Striving to build a worker centered institution for Talkeetna’s winter heating needs

Talkeetna Toyos’ goal is to become a 100% equal-share employee owned company, because we believe in the economics of the community caring for itself. We strive to be an equal opportunity employer, and are trying to put real commercial power into the hands of Talkeetna’s residents.

We see the need for Talkeetna-based heating repair — locally based, sustainable beyond individual’s careers, broadly trained, licensed, and fast-responding. Our goal is to work on all heating systems used in the community, train community members to repair these systems, and ultimately in the operational organization of a small for-profit business.

Our decisions for you, our clients, as well as this business is long term — we are aimed at building a sustainable institution that will outlast any given worker. It remains to be seen whether we have the heart to pull it off.
